Windows cannot find "SSVICHOSST.EXE" Make sure you typed the name. ...this error message appear at windows startup ?How do I fix this ..

Questioner: Ashwaani Sharma E-mail : ashwanideft@gmail.com Country: India

Answer : Status--> Resolved

Well Ashwaani got this message because ,SSVICHOSST.EXE was removed by his anti-virus program but still the registry entries for it exist.SSVICHOSST.EXE was created by a virus , hence Ashwaani's PC was infected by a common virus. This problem can be solved manually by deleting all the startup entries created by the virus from the registry.

How to remove registry entries ,

  • Click Start ->> Run. (You will get the run window. )
  • Type “regedit” (without quotes) and press enter.(This will open registry editor.)
  • In the Registry Editor navigate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run ( OR you can click Edit ->> Find and then search for SSVICHOSST.EXE )
  • Delete the entry for SSVICHOSST.EXE
  • Restart windows and now you won't get the error message.

Note: We are not recommend to do Registry Editing , if you are not familiar to do these type of technical things. Because if you are delete any necessary entry from the registry windows won't work properly. Best way get some help from a person with technical knowledge and first backup your registry before edit it.

Ashwaani got cannot find "SSVICHOSST.EXE" message , but we know many of you might have been seen messages like as follows:

  • Cannot find "svchots.exe" message
  • Cannot find "svichots.exe" message
  • Cannot find "svihosst.exe" message
  • Cannot find "svhost32.exe" message
  • Cannot find "sscviihost.exe" message

Or any other similar errors

Also all other similar error messages appear, because different types of viruses create some files with different names and these files were deleted by their anti-virus programs but still the registry entries for them exist. These problems also can be solved manually by deleting all the startup entries created by the virus from the registry in the same way as given above.
