Unknown files + desktop.ini ,thumbs.db . What are these files?

Answer :

Don't worry those desktop.ini and thumbs.db are Windows system files. That's mean those files belong to Windows OS. They are never going to harm your computer. You can delete them but they will re-appear.

So let's see what are they

What is thumbs.db ? Thumbs.db is used to generate thumbnail cache in Windows.When you view your images in thumbnails , windows will create a thumbs.db file.Thumbnails show images as small icons and you can see what an image is before open it.Rather than create the thumbnail each time Windows creates the thumbnails once, and then save them using thumbs.db database file.

What is desktop.ini ? Windows use this file to keep information of the folders. If you change the folder icon or if you change any default setting then desktop.ini hold the settings for the folder.You can be safely deleted desktop.ini but the look of that folder may change because you'll be removing the settings.

How to remove them

Desktop.ini and thumbs.db files are normally hidden.In your computer they must have gotten unhidden somehow.If you dont' like to see them open 'My Computer' or 'Windows Explore' , click 'Tools' -> 'Folder Options' from Menu bar. In 'Folder Option' dialog box click on 'View' tab.

Click on (check) 'Do not cache thumbnails' option to stop creating thumbs.db files.

Click on (check) 'Do not show hidden files and folders' and 'Hide protected opertaing system files' options to stop showing desktop.ini files.
